Sankey Open Studio has no server, no database, and no accounts. Every diagram you create, including all names, amounts, colors, and settings, is stored only in your own browser's local storage on your own device. We cannot see your diagrams, and neither can anyone else. When you download an image or a JSON backup, the file is created on your computer by your browser.
Because storage is local, clearing your browser's site data will delete your saved diagrams. Use the JSON backup feature to keep copies you control.
This site uses Google Analytics to understand overall usage so the tool can be improved. That is the only tracking on the site. It records:
What is never sent: the content of your diagrams. No node names, no labels, no amounts, no titles, no colors, and no file contents ever leave your browser as part of analytics or anything else.
Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish visitors. You can block these with a browser content blocker or by disabling cookies, and the app will keep working normally. Google's own handling of analytics data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. If you download this open source app and run it on your own computer or server, you can delete the analytics snippet entirely and nothing is tracked at all.
Sankey Open Studio is free software released under the MIT License. You are welcome to use it for anything, personal or commercial, and to copy, modify, and share it.
The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. While it is built and tested with care, you use it at your own risk, and the author is not liable for lost data or for decisions made based on diagrams you create. Verify important numbers against your source data. You are responsible for the content of the diagrams you make and share.
If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Questions and concerns are welcome on GitHub issues or via LinkedIn.
